The theme used for WordPress is a customised version of Calotropis, via the use of a child theme. An extensive collection of WordPress plugins are in-use; yes, including Akismet to keep linkspam at bay.
Any proceeds raised through advertising, or donations, are to cover hosting/bandwidth costs for the site, plus any future moves to https:// per longer-term goals for wikinewsie.org.
